Demonstrations and workshops are held at:

Demonstrations start at 2.30pm and they are free to members, guests are charged a £5 entry fee.
Workshops are open to members only and are usually all day, full details are sent to participants once payment is received. Workshops are confirmed once the minimum number of attendees has been reached. Prices are from £40.

Julian Routledge: Acrylic Birds
After school I went on to do an art foundation course at Northampton College. From there Kingston University (then a polytechnic) to complete a BA honours in graphics, specialising in illustration.
I went to work as a creative Art Director in the marketing and advertising agencies in the West End of London, eventually becoming a Creative Director, heading up agency creative departments for more than 20 years.
Now settled in Hampshire and although still with a finger in the agency world, I've eventually grabbed the 'brush by the bristles' and now dedicate more time where it originally all started - painting and drawing.

Roger Dellar: Oils Marine Reflections
Roger Dellar's enjoyment of painting is the process rather than the end result. It is about finding the subject and letting it emerge.
He enjoys the surface created, the brushwork and the differences between lean and fat paint. He wants the painting to read from a distance as reality, but close up to be a series of marks.
With composition, he likes this to emerge by looking for the spatial qualities of one shape creating an imbalance, and then being resolved by another. He likes to work with a limited palette adding a few brights for emphasis.

Workshop
Jake Winkle: Watercolour Venice
Jake is leading a workshop on the subject of Venice, he regularly tutors and demonstrates all over the country. The price of this workshop is £40 and members should email Maureen Ashworth to book onto the course. Please be aware that bookings cannot be accepted without payment in full.
Jake exhibits widely in the south of England. In 2007 his work was selected for the Royal Society of British Artist's exhibition in The Mall Galleries, London, and from that time he has been contributing regular articles about his painting style for The Artist magazine.
Inspired by light and movement Jake's paintings are a reflection of the world around him. As well as exhibitions in London and the south of England he has undertaken many fine art commissions for individuals and notable organisations including The National Trust.

Rachel Redfern:
Oils Abstract Flowers
Rachel’s artwork is varied and instinctive. Working with oils she draws on photographs, sketches and memories based on her time in nature and the impact of seasons and world events on her daily life and mental health. Time spent in silent contemplation outside contrasts with reflective moments at her painting altar or frenetic bouts of activity in the studio. As in life seeking moments of chance to allow beauty to be revealed in the near and far, vast yet intimate.
Rachel balances her creative life with a passion for coaching and the healing benefits of creativity having trained as a Relational Dynamic coach; completed a Foundation in Art Psychotherapy and taken on a trustee role for the charity Mind.
This intersection between art and therapy has led to her being taken on as the Artist In Residence for a year at Cabilla in Cornwall.

Sharon Hurst: Granulated watercolour: Winter Chill
In my teens I found inspiration in the wonderful album art and the “Lord of the Rings” imagery. It nurtured the desire to try and create the images that I imagined. The lure of the Fantasy world has never left me, I enjoy the process of creation and watching my characters come to life on the page just adds to the thrill of it!

Fiona Forbes: Oils Snow Scene
Several years back, Fiona decided that she needed a new challenge and change of direction in her painting techniques. She had dabbled with oils during her foundation year at art college but specialised in textile design, painting or ‘colouring in’ with gouache, and didn’t use them after that initial first year.
Frustrated by her early experiments with brushes she abandoned the brush and replaced it with a knife. Since then she has been hooked, enjoying the creamy consistency of oils to create texture, was bliss. 'The paint didn’t move anywhere, unless I wanted it to, and if I made a mistake it was easy to either scrape it off or paint over it. How exciting!' A new era had dawned.

Matt Waruszynski
Oil Portrait
Nick specialises in figurative work and portraits. He is interested in exploring how the body and face tell the story of our lives.
'Our body keeps the score of all of our traumas, joys, struggles and triumphs and I seek to use painting and drawing as a way to understand and tell these stories.'
He is fascinated by the materiality of paint which he likes to apply thickly in an impasto style basically, sculpting with paint.
With a background in animation, he is drawn to fast, energetic marks to give a sense of life and movement in his work.
In 2015 he set up Life Drawing MK and I also teaches regularly at Westbury Arts Centre and is involved with Drink Draw Northampton. Read more

Tushar Sabale: Oils Cityscape
Tushar Sabale is an award winning Indian born, British artist based in London. He was awarded ‘The Rosemary Brushes Award’ at the Royal Institute of Oil painters (ROI) 2024 annual show at the Mall galleries.
Tushar mainly paints from life and plein air (French term for outdoors) in oil colours but occasionally enjoys painting objects and has transitioned from painting portraits to landscapes in recent years.
He places his work between Impressionism and Realism with some Luminist touches.

Jenny Muncaster: Mixed Media
Jenny Muncaster is a professional artist working from her studios at The Colour Factory Studios and Gallery in Winchester.
Her work is focused on mixed media and acrylics and she takes on numerous art commissions. Her great sense of colour and choice of subject matter appeal to art, food and wine lovers alike. She also loves a coastal view!
Jenny’s paintings feature in collections and five-star hotels around the world, including The Four Seasons Hotel Group, The Shard and on the suites of The Royal Caribbean. More unusual commissions include 26 hand painted art bollards in Winchester!
Jenny also creates special personalised paintings, allowing people to bring elements of their day-to-day lives, homes, families, holidays and hobbies into their finished artwork.

Workshop
Chris Marsh: Cyanotype
Chris Marsh is a textile designer and cyanotype artist whose work draws on natural botanicals and urban landscapes.
Working with recycled cloth and paper, she creates environmentally conscious cyanotype prints in both traditional Prussian blue and soft, reduced‑tone palettes.
Chris teaches cyanotype and mixed‑media workshops and her session for OAG will focus on cyanotype botanicals. The price of this workshop is £40 and will be limited to 12 members. AGM and Demo
Chris Sharp:
Acrylics semi abstract floral
Chris is a very active member of the Odiham Art Group and has successfully been the OAG Exhibition Manager for many years.
When she's not embroiled in the running of this exhibition she can be found painting landscapes, stormy skies, people and places as well as private commissions on a wide range of subjects.
Her home county of Yorkshire features largely in her landscapes which lend themselves to a semi abstract style, with loose sweeps of her palette knife across thick slabs of paint.
OAG Annual Exhibition 2027
The 2027 exhibition will be open for two full days at the end of August as well as having a Preview Evening. Dates and times will be released nearer the time.
We intend to once again join Hampshire Open Studios and the Odiham Art Trail so there’ll be lots of wonderful artwork to see.
