Alan's interest in nature, and birdlife in particular, led to his wish to portray his sightings in art. He is an active member of several local art and bird clubs.
 

A camera and binoculars are always in the luggage for days out and holidays, now in retirement and children fully fledged, time is taken up with painting or birding, any space on the walls has long disappeared.
 

Starting in watercolours with a brief spell playing with oils, acrylic is the medium of choice these days.
